THIS IS NOT MY LAST MEAL!

From a sermon given on 25 October 2026:

....As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a [a]jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
| (1 Kings 17:12, NKJV)

The widow thought her last handful of flour and little oil meant the end. But what she called her last meal became the place of God's provision. Her resources were running out, but God's resources were not. Never judge your future by what you have left today. What looks like an ending may be the beginning of God's miracle.

Elijah told her, "Do not fear." God promised that the flour would not be used up and the oil would not run dry (1 Kings 17:14). She expected to eat and die, but God had planned for her to eat and live. The barrel was almost empty, but heaven was not. When God enters the equation, impossibility becomes an opportunity for His power.

So when circumstances say, "This is the end," answer by faith, "NOT TODAY!" Your shortage does not determine your destiny. Your resources may be small, but your God is great. The famine said, "Eat and die," but God said, "Eat and live." Your barrel shall not waste, your oil shall not fail, and your story shall not end in famine. God is not finished with you!

Further Readings:

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.
(2 Kings 4:1-7)

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
Psalm 118:17)

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:19)
