From a sermon given on 24 September 2028:

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
(Job 14:7-9 )

These are the words of Job; a man to whom everything seemed to be going on well. He was a rich man, had a good family and enjoyed a good relationship with God. God testifies of him in Job. " And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?" (Job 1:8)

Despite having a good standing with God, he was not immune from the enemy's attack. He lost everything in one day. Having gone through all the persecutions, he comes to a conclusion of our text today. That "there is hope of a tree…Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant."

Despite what he was passing through, he had hope in God that all would be well. He was very much aware that if a tree is cut down and not uprooted, it has a chance of sprouting again. Our hope also is in our God. We are a godly seed that cannot dry. When our enemies think it's all gone, with the only scent of water, we're going to sprout. Hold on to your faith. Christ who is in us is the Hope of glory. We are budding again in all aspects of our life in Jesus Mighty Name.
