From a sermon given on 06 November 2022:

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
(Matthew 5:13)

"Taste is a complex sense and our taste buds can respond to several different flavors at once. Salt is used" "as a universal flavor improver. At low concentrations, it reduces bitterness and increases" "sweetness which is desirable for sweet recipes ( Science Focus)." "Salt does not just increase the salty taste but suppresses / decrease the bitter taste."

We are the salt of the earth. Just as the salt brings out the best distinctive taste of food in our mouths, we have an obligation of bringing out the real flavors of the world we live in. "Without you, the world is tasteless, spiritually decayed and uninhabitable."

"The world is in need of spiritual flavors. Each Christian is like a grain of salt. The world is in need of peace, forgiveness, love, joy , contentment and salvation just to name a few. These are the flavors that makes life tasty and enjoyable. It is only believers in Christ who can flavour the earth and improve the quality and quantity of life."

Further Readings:

And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.
(Leviticus 2:13)

Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
(Mark 9:50)

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man
(Colossians 4:6)
