From a sermon given on 26 March 2023:

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
(Psalm 27:13)

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
(Psalm 27:14)

"We are confronted with circumstances some which we did not have the freedom to choose but which we are forced to confront on a daily basis. These may include but not limited to economic hardship, job loses, sicknesses and diseases, family squabbles, living in a poor environment etc."

"One of the greatest temptations in life is to become too absorbed in one's circumstances." Whenever a man/woman looks merely at his circumstances ,he ends up in despair, disillusionment and cynicism. This always leads to tragic consequences. ( Coretta King collection, folder file194) David would have fainted / lost heart unless he had believed that he would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

We need to look beyond our current circumstances by standing firm in our faith and knowing that he will come through for us. If we stand firm, we will definitely see his goodness in our lifetime. Don't be in a hurry and don’t be impatient; "wait on the Lord, be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart; wait I say, "on the Lord"!

Further Readings:

Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.
(Psalm 33:20)

And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
(Isaiah 8:17)

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
(Habakkuk 2:3)
