From a sermon given on 15 October 2023:

The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
(Psalm 93:3-4)

In this text, the Psalmist has personified the forces of nature. The floods are depicted as having lifted up their voice and their waves. However, even though they seem furious, Yahweh, the creator of heaven and earth reigns over them.

Even though many people may rise against you, they cannot prevail because the Lord most high is mightier than the noise of many waters. He is greater in strength than all the forces that may gather against you.

God's control over the angry passions of men and women is as absolute as over the fiercest elements of nature. He overrules them and ensures that the purposes of heaven are fulfilled. Cheer up, the waves and the noise will not harm you for Jehovah will preserve his people's interests from being ruined.
